With a wealth of experience working with various UK Government Departments and Agencies and more recently the NHS as the Associate Director of Inclusion in Barts Health NHS Trust. Bernadette brings a depth of knowledge, insight, and expertise to her role as the Executive Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion for NHS Kings College Hospital. In 2020, Bernadette was recognized for her exceptional work in championing and driving race equality and inclusion across the Civil Service, winning the Workplace Hero category in the national Investing in Ethnicity Awards. In 2021, she received one of the prestigious “We are the City” Rising Star Champion awards. In June 2021, Bernadette was honored with an OBE (Order of the British Empire) for her outstanding services to Diversity and Inclusion. Her contributions to publications such as ‘Still Breathing’ and her inclusion in the ‘SHE2’s first Wonder Women’ publication have further solidified her influence and impact.

Community Involvement

Beyond her professional endeavors, Bernadette has been a Community Governor at a local infant school for over 18 years, demonstrating her commitment to education and community engagement. She also volunteers at athletics/sports events, including the 2012 Olympics, where she supported the Nigerian Olympic Committee and athletes during the London games.

Advisory Committee Membership

Bernadette sits on the advisory committee for Black Women in HR, an organization dedicated to supporting the progression of Black Women in Human Resources. Her involvement reflects her dedication to fostering inclusivity and empowering underrepresented groups.
